ROBERT JADIS Robert
Jadis was born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada. There as a young boy
he attended art classes at Acadia University. In his late teens his
unique talent in painting and cartooning was recognized with a
scholarship to the Nova Scotia School of Art.
He was a member of
the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for 25 years, serving both Canada and
Europe. During later years he occupied the position of Senior Advisor
and director of Security Operations for the Privy Council Office and
the Office of the Prime Minister in Ottawa, Ontario.
Robert has
a lifelong commitment to volunteering and as a musician he was the
founder and leader of “SouperJazz” a musical ensemble raising thousands
of dollars to help feed the hungry in the Nation’s Capital. But, his
truly proudest moment was being a Torch Bearer for the 1976 Montreal
Olympics.
Always creating and drawing, Robert became a
successful cartoonist, being widely published and noted for his
“Noseworthy”, “Horsewit” and “Fiddle Fork” cartoons.
While
wintering in Florida in the 1990’s he was the director of the St.
Petersburg Art Institute for two years. It was there he selected the
acrylic medium for his unique, contemporary creations. After wintering
in Arizona, he returns with his partner Trude to their home in White
Rock, British Columbia. Included among his multi talents you will find
Robert writing children’s stories, soap stone carving and Celtic fiddle
playing. He also enjoys driving “Miss Evangeline” his lovingly restored
1926 Model T Touring Car.
